Latest drop in the Express Entry cut-off score sees an increase in the number of ITA’s issued.

Cut-off scores drop as low as 442 in the latest draw.

The Canadian Government has issued ITA’s to 3000 candidates with profiles in the Express Entry pool who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) score of 442. These invites to apply for a Canadian permanent residency took place in the latest draw that took place on Feb 7, 2018.

A total of 3,000 Invitations to Apply (ITA’s) were issued to applicants which denotes an increase of 250 as compared to the last six draws, in which a total of 2,750 ITAs were issued.

The minimum cut-off score was 442 which is two points less than the last cut off score of the January 24 draw and this cut-off score is recorded to be the lowest of all the 2018 CRS cut-off scores.

There have been three draws in 2018 till date and all three draws in 2018 had the lowest scores as compared to draws from 2017 which saw lots of draws with the lowest recorded CRS scores till date. The lowest recorded score was 413 in the draw held on May 31, 2017.

Seeing the last 6 draws, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) derived a tie-break rule. In the case above the tie break date and time was May 29, 2017 at 07:01:15

UTC. Meaning that all applicants with CRS scores of 442 or above in the Express entry pool will receive an ITA before the decided time.

EXPRESS ENTRY PNPs

The Provincial Nomination Programs (PNPs) have a direct linkage to the Express Entry and with the last active couple of weeks since the January 24 draw, many provinces like Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba etc having the Express Entry PNP streams have held draws for candidates.

On January 26. Ontario issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) under the Human Capital Priorities Stream to 380 candidates with existing profiles in the Express Entry pool with CRS scores from 433 to 444. Following this event there was news that New Brunswick Express Entry labour market stream opened to issuing Expressions of Interest and the January 31st draw on Manitoba issued 148 letters of advice to candidates in the Express entry pathway.

Express Entry applicants who received a provincial nomination received an additional 600 points in their CRS scores making them very much eligible to receive an ITA.

To understand how this system of receiving an ITA  in today’s draw works here is an example to help you decipher it better:

Colette and Cain are a married couple. Colette is 29 years old and Cain is 34 years old. Both of them hold a bachelor’s degree, possess advanced English Language skills and have been working as Software engineers for over three years. Neither has worked or studied in Canada and they have entered in the Express Entry pool with Colette as the main applicant. Colette’s CRS score is 443 and is sufficient to receive and ITA in today’s draw.

The draw today brought forth a new development for 2018 with the CRS cut-off going down, the number of ITA’s issued has gone up. One reason of the cut-off scores going this low can be due to the extensive number of candidates applying for immigration, let’s just wait and see where does the cut-off go or the future draws.
